Welcome! This group conducts fundamental research in
geometric and physical modeling (mathematical and computational aspects of
three-dimensional geometry and physics), and develops tools and methods that
enable the automation of industrial machineries, processes and systems. Our
research falls into the general area of design, manufacturing, robotics and
automation. We focus on addressing emerging issues in
computational design and manufacturing, which provides a fertile ground for
both basic and applied research. o On the one
hand, rapidly advancing cyber technologies (sensing, computing and
networking, etc) offer unprecedented opportunities for transforming produce
development. o On the other
hand, new machineries (e.g. atomic force microscopy), processes (e.g. micro/nano
fabrication process, design process) and systems (e.g. human-computer
interface), are emerging that pose new problems in computation design and
manufacturing. Utilizing these new technologies for product
development and addressing the rising issues in emerging
machineries/processes/systems often require new mathematical foundations,
novel computing paradigms, and different tools. We welcome you to visit our website and provide
with us your feedback. |
