Ubong Solomon's Research Interest

My research interest is in the area of the enhanced mass transfer to or from oscillating fluids and related applications. Prior work in ATESR Lab and elsewhere has demonstrated increases in vaporization rate for oscillating droplets. Specific to work conducted in ATESR Lab, a monodisperse droplet stream, generated and electrically charged by a vibrating orifice generator (VOAG) and subjected to an external AC field exhibited enhanced vaporization in response to the induced oscillatory motion.  Vaporization was characterized based on vapor concentrations inferred from planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) images of the droplets. The insight gained regarding the increased vaporization rate of droplets undergoing oscillatory motion will be exploited in my research for use in developing biomimetic environmental sensors.
